When was the last time Leon and Atlas played in a Liga MX Final?

Following their semi-final wins over Tigres and Pumas respectively, both Leon and the side from Guadalajara will meet in another Liga MX showcase final.

The first leg of the Liga MX Apertura 2021 final will be held at León's Nou Camp next Thursday while the second leg will be played at the Jalisco Stadium in Guadalajara on Sunday evening, where the new Mexican champion will be crowned.

Leon more decorated side

When it comes to Mexican championships, the men from Leon are the more decorated club with 8 Liga MX wins to their name with 'Los Verdes' also on the losing side on six occasions.

The side from Guanajuato won the Mexican league title in: 1947/48, 1948/40, 1951/52, 1955/56, 1991/92, Apertura 2013, Clausura 2014 and Guardianes 2020.

Atlas sole win in 1951

The side from Guadalajara have only been victorious in one Liga MX championship and that was back in the 1950/51 season and the 'Rojinegros' have been on the losing side in three finals: (1948/49, 1965/66 and 1999).

Only on one occasion have Leon and Atlas come face to face in a final and that contest ended tilting the way of 'Los Panzas Verdes' in the 1948/49 season.

Thee first leg of this year's Apertura final takes place at the home of León on December 9 at 22:00 pm US (ET) / 19:00 pm US (PT) and the second leg in Guadalajara on December 12 at 21:15pm US (ET) / 18:15 US (PT).
