Liga MX winners

The professional Mexican football league was established in 1943 and over the years has seen how the 'big two' of Mexican football, Club America and CD Guadalajara have dominated the championship over the years.

'Las Aguillas' from Mexico city can boast the highest number of Liga MX championships having scooped 13 wins having been on the losing end on ten occasions. The men from Guadalajara have won 12 titles, losing nine finals. These two are joined on the podium by Toluca with ten wins in their history.

Cruz Azul have bagged 9 wins and Leon can join the side from the capital should they defeat Atlas this weekend. University teams Tigres UANL and Pumas UNAM have 7 wins a-piece ahead of Santos Laguna and Pachuca with six. One of the 21st century powerhouses in the Mexican game, Monterrey boast five wins and they head Atlante and Nexaca on three a-piece. Puebla, Zacatepec and Veracruz have two trophy's in their cabinet with just the solitary Liga MX win for: Tijuana, Oro, Atletico Morelia, Atlas, Tampico Madero, Real España, Tecos, Asturias and Marte with the latter of these clubs now playing in Mexican lower leagues.
