Covid-19 continues to affect the Real Madrid dressing room. Luka Modric and Marcelo tested positive yesterday and in recent hours the club has announced five more positive cases.

The latest results reveal that Marco Asensio, Gareth Bale, Rodrygo, Andriy Lunin and assistant manager and son of manager Carlo Ancelotti, Davide, have all tested positive for covid-19.

Madrid postponed today's training session, scheduled for 11 am, to 4.30 pm in order to test the entire squad and determine exactly how many new cases there are. All members of the squad and staff around them have been subjected to antigen testing and PCR tests.

Covid-19 cases in Real Madrid squad

Twelve members of the 25 members of the current squad have previously tested positive for the virus at one stage or another. Mariano, Kroos, Militao, Casemiro, Hazard, Jovic, Nacho, Valverde, Benzema, Lunin, Alaba and Vallejo have all tested positive since the outbreak of the disease.

That leaves just eight Madrid players who have not been hit by covid-19; Courtois, Carvajal, Mendy, Lucas Vázquez, Ceballos, Isco, Camavinga and Vinicius. At one point, Isco had to withdraw from a training session with fever, but it was eventually confirmed that it was not covid-19 and he did not have to be confined. It is also possible that some players may have passed on the infection without knowing it, throughout the various waves that have followed.

Club affected from top to bottom

Former Madrid captain Sergio Ramos and current Manchester United defender Raphaël Varane both tested positive for the disease as Real Madrid players last season, as did Zinedine Zidane, who had to be replaced by his number two, David Bettoni, for a few matches. Club president Florentino Pérez also tested positive, in February 2021.

AS understands that LaLiga will not postpone Real Madrid's home match against Cádiz on Sunday.
