Benzema and Carvajal to miss Sunday's game against Cádiz
The French forward and Dani Carvajal, both with muscular pains, will sit out Sunday's league game against Cádiz.
Karim Benzema and Dani Carvajal, both suffering muscular pains, are likely to miss Sunday's league game against Cádiz. Luka Modric, who tested negative for Covid-19 on Friday, remains doubtful pending more tests but he too will probably be rested.
Real Madrid are also in close contact with local authorities in the Basque Country to be updated on the situation ahead of their meeting with Athletic Club next Wednesday. Athletic confirmed today that Unai Simón and Iñigo Martínez have tested positive for coronavirus.
Carlo Ancelotti has a number of players who are self-isolating after testing postive for Covid-19 - Marcelo, Asensio, Bale, Lunin and Rodrygo won't be available for this weekend's game against Cádiz.
Benzema still isn't fully over the hamstring sprain that he picked up in the derby while Carvajal is also still experiencing twinges. Neither took part in Friday's session which means it's unlikely they will be included in Ancelotti's list tomorrow. Mariano Díaz is also unavailable after testing positive for coronavirus so Luka Jovic will probably lead the line against Cádiz.
Ceballos set to return
On a more positive note, Dani Ceballos could make his return to the list. He has been out for several months after suffering an ankle injury in Spain's meeting with Egypt at the Tokyo Olympics. He recently returned to full training and is available again. Ancelotti drafted a few Castilla players into the session to make up the numbers - left-back Miguel Gutiérrez, midfielders Antonio Blanco and Sergio Arribas and winger Peter.
