Ricardo Pepi set to leave FC Dallas in January transfer window

The United States men’s national team striker will not return for the 2022 Major League Soccer season with Dallas because he will play in the Bundesliga.

FC Dallas were hopeful they could retain Ricardo Pepi for the 2022 Major League Soccer regular season, but with the transfer window approaching it seems impossible. The United States men’s national team striker has previously said that he is ready to make the switch to Europe and it seems that his dream is about to come true.

Ricardo Pepi to play in the Bundesliga

Several UEFA Champions League clubs were interested in bringing the 18-year-old and his agent has met with several of them to listen to the offers. According to journalist Fabrizio Romano, Pepi is prepared to leave FC Dallas and he will most likely join Wolfsburg during the January transfer window.

FC Dallas and the Bundesliga side are still working on the finer details, but it is assumed that Ricardo Pepi’s fee will be close to $20 million. The USMNT striker had already submitted his transfer request to the MLS side front office in October because was ready for the next challenge in his career.

The FC Dallas player had a breakout season with 13 goals in 31 appearances and provided three assists. He was able to make his debut with the United States men’s national team this year and he scored three goals, provided two assists in five appearances.
