Who will start at quaterback for 49ers in NFC Divisional Round game against Packers?
Jimmy Garoppolo injured his throwing shoulder in the 23-17 win over Dallas last week. He also has an injured thumb coming into Saturday's game vs. Green Bay.
The San Francisco 49ers travel to Green Bay to take on the top seeded Packers in the Divisional Round of the NFC playoffs. All indications out of the Bay Area is that the Niners will have their starting quarterback for Saturday’s game.
There were questions as to who would be under center in Lambeau Field this weekend after Jimmy Garoppolo was injured on Saturday night’s game against the Dallas Cowboys.
Garoppolo was already banged up going into the Wild Card round game nursing an injured thumb on his throwing hand. Despite the bummed thumb, Jimmy G led San Francisco to a the win over Dallas going 16 for 25 for 172 yards.
In the second quarter of the Cowboys game Garoppolo sprained his throwing shoulder, but finished the game despite admitting later that the injury did affect his thrown in the second half.
Jimmy G practiced on Wednesday, and told reporters, “We'll feel it out throughout the week, but yeah, just feeling good right now,"
The Niners expect him to play, but don’t expect him at 100%. If he can’t go the Niners have rookie quarterback Trey Lance who has started two games this year, losing one against the Arizona Cardinals and winning one against the Houston Texans.
Lance has 603 yards on 41/71 passing with five touchdown and two interceptions.
Kickoff from Lambeau Field is set for Saturday, 22 January at 8:15 pm ET.
