Barcelona's patience with Dembélé finally expires
Barcelona's director of soccer, Mateu Alemany, said Thursday that Ousmane Dembélé 'must immediately leave' after not accepting the renewal offers offered by the club.
Mateu Alemany, the FC Barcelona sporting director, stated on Thursday that Ousmane Dembélé "must immediately leave" after not accepting the renewal offers offered by the club.
"It seems obvious to us that the player does not want to continue at Barcelona and is not committed to Barça's future project. In this scenario, he and his agents have been told that he must leave immediately," Mateu Alemany told the club's media.
The Barça director of soccer recalled that, since July, "we have talked, we have opened dialogue, Barça has made different offers, we have tried to find a way for the player to continue with us".
"Those offers have been systematically rejected by his agents," said Alemany, who deduced from these refusals that the player does not want to remain at Barça.
"We want players committed to this project and therefore we hope that a transfer will take place before January 31" when the market closes, Alemany said.
The striker was omitted for the FC Barcelona squad who travel to face Athletic in the Copa del Rey Round of 16 clash on Thursday night at San Mamés,
