Sergiño Dest ‘unlikely’ to leave FC Barcelona in January

The United States international’s agent, Michael Reschke, confirmed that his client is happy at FC Barcelona and it is ‘unlikely’ that he will leave this winter.

Sergiño Dest ‘unlikely’ to leave FC Barcelona in January

Sergiño Dest has not seen a lot of minutes since Xavi Hernández took over the managerial job at FC Barcelona last year. The United States international was even left out of the roster that played against Real Madrid in the Spanish Super Cup semi-final and veteran defender Dani Alves played in his usual position.

Dest is happy at the Camp Nou

Several rumors have indicated that Dest could leave Barcelona if the right offer comes to the table and that Xavi doesn’t trust him after seeing him play some games last year. Dest has been linked to FC Bayern Munich, Atlético Madrid and Chelsea during this winter transfer window, but so far there is nothing official yet.

While there are ongoing rumors about his departure after a year and a half at the Camp Nou, his agent, Michael Reschke, said his client is happy and it is ‘unlikely’ that he will leave during the current transfer window. The 21-year-old is under contract until the summer of 2025 and the people in charge won’t let him go for under $30 million.

"Sergiño Is happy in Barcelona. It is a big club. That's why it is quite unlikely at this moment", said Reschke. With his declarations he is playing down the rumors of a possible departure for Dest, but he can’t promise his client will remain with Barcelona next season.
