The 49ers are on the up, but the Packers are No.1
Having snatched a dramatic23-17 win in Dallas against the Cowboys just last week, the 49ers are currently surging with confidence. Quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo committed several errors late in the game including an interception, but his 16-of-25 passing for 172 yards was still an essential part of what was ultimately an upset victory over America's team. As it stands Garoppolo is battling to be ready, as he has been plagued by injuries to both his thumb and shoulder. With that said Garoppolo has made it clear he'll be ready for Saturday's game.

The Packers need no introduction. Coming into the game as the No. 1 seed in the NFC - as is their way - Green Bay has had an extra week to recover and of course can look forward to guaranteed home field advantage. Quarterback Aaron Rodgers has courted controversy at varying times this season, but the veteran is as good as he's ever been such that it would be a mistake to let his record against San Francisco - Rodgers is 0-3 - sidetrack you. That being said Green Bay will need to be crafty against San Francisco, anything less could spell disaster.

It was back in Week 3 when the Packers just managed to squeeze past the 49ers in a 30-28 win. Though satisfying, it doesn't compare to the rivalry between the two teams in the playoffs. To date, the Packers and 49ers have met eight times in the playoffs, with both teams having won four games. Split down the middle. “I’ve been around and played a lot of football. I understand the history of this rivalry, the history of us against them,” Rodgers said when speaking about the rivalry. “But these are two different teams."
