More European players in Major League Soccer this year

The 28 teams in the league are gearing up for the upcoming 2022 MLS regular season and they continue to sign players from all over Europe.

More European players in Major League Soccer this year

Lorenzo Insigne joined Toronto FC as the biggest signing ahead of the upcoming 2022 Major League Soccer campaign. Many other MLS clubs are also looking into bringing players from different European leagues before the winter transfer window closes next week.

New signings for the upcoming season

On Monday, it was confirmed that Milos Degenek from Australia has joined Columbus Crew, Ruben Gabrielsen from Norway signed with Austin FC and Marinnos Tzionis from the Czech Republic will play for Sporting KC during the 2022 campaign. While Last week Orlando City SC confirmed that Ercan Kara from Austria will join the club this season and Mikael Uhre from Denmark signed with the Philadelphia Union.

The most known signings

Milos Degenek joined the Crew as a free agent and is only 27 years old. He previously played two and a half seasons in the Serbian SuperLiga with Red Star Belgrade and he also had appearances in the Champions League qualifying rounds and the Europa League.

Ruben Gabrielsen is 29 years old and he also signed as a free transfer for Austin FC. Previously, he played for Toulouse and last year he was sent on loan to FC Copenhagen. He made 14 appearances with the Ligue 2 side and signed a one-year deal with Austin.

Marinos Tzionis is a young left back with a promising career. The 20 year old arrived from Omnia Nicosia in the Cypriot first division. Sporting Kansas City paid $1.5 million to bring him to the league this year. Tzionis signed a two-year contract with the MLS side and the club has the option to keep him through 2025.
