Super Bowl LVI is still over a week away, but the battle that will take place at the SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles is already starting to take shape. Players will continue to get themselves into tip-top physical shape for the occasion but we do already know for certain what the LA Rams and the Cincinnati Bengals will be wearing come 13 February 2022.

The Super Bowl uniform decisions

Bengals honouring history

We got an early glimpse via their Twitter account, as the Bengals announced they would be wearing black jerseys and white pants with orange highlights and matching socks.

According to the NFL's official website, Cincinnati’s decision for their home jersey and the colour scheme is in tribute to their first Super Bowl appearance. On that occasion, the 16th edition, the Bengals were beaten by Joe Montana's 49ers.

The Bengals have already worn this uniform a couple of times this season and are 1-1 with it.

Rams’ fan favourite

In the case of the Rams, who will play as ‘visitors’ in their own stadium, they have advised that for Super Bowl LVI they will wear their retro white jersey, yellow sleeves and royal blue socks. According to Fox, that combination has become a real fan favourite.

It was also detailed that this decision also seeks to honor the club's past; particularly the uniform they wore in the 1970s and 1990s.

Will it be all white on the Super Bowl night?

One element that seems to work in Los Angeles' favor is that since 2005, 14 of 17 teams that have worn white in the Super Bowl have been league champions - only the Packers in 2010, Eagles in 2017 and Chiefs in 2020 went against this trend.
