Update:
We take a look at one of the biggest rising stars in the UFC and how much he has earned since he was signed by the MMA's most important company.

After Russian superstar Khabib Nurmagomedov retired from the UFC, many fans and experts wondered who his successor could be or who would be the most similar fighter to 'The Eagle'.

Islam Mackhachev's name started to sound like the next big name in the MMA world due to his skills and fighting style, something that Nurmagomedov confirmed by saying he was "the future of UFC". In fact, Khabib and Islam are friends and the pair even trained under Khabib’s father, Abdulmanap Nurmagomedov.

Makhachev, who was born in Makhachkala and grew up in the remote village of Burshi, now part of the Republic of Dagestan, Russia, is a former Sambo competitor who currently competes in the lightweight division of the UFC.

Makhachev's fight record

Islam Makhachev, 30, started his professional MMA career in 2011, in the M-1 Global promotion. Since then, he won all of his fights in that and other promotions until he signed for the UFC in 2014.

Islam has a record of 21 wins and only one defeat, and his only loss came in 2015 against Brazilian martial artist Adriano Martins. However, after that, he has defeated every opponent he has faced (nine wins). In 2016, Makhachev won the gold medal in the World Combat Sambo Championship.

How much has he earned?

The Russian ace’s net worth is about $650,000. He has earned around $576,500 from his UFC fighting career till now. Only in his fight against Thiago Moises, Makhachev earned $116,000.

However, his net worth will likely increase exponentially as he faces bigger opposition and keeps defeating all of his rivals en route to a lightweight title fight.
