Brenden Aarsonson exits Champions League with two assists
The United States men’s international team ace provided two assists in the two leg UEFA Champions League matches for RB Salzburg,
RB Salzburg were eliminated from the UEFA Champions League after losing 8-2 on aggregate against FC Bayern Munich in the two leg series. Brenden Aaronson was a key player for the Austrian side and helped them reach the round of 16 of the competition this season.
The USMNT ace made eight appearances this tournament, all of them as a starter, and provided two assists. Both of them came against FC Bayern Munich and this could’ve been the last time he plays for Salzburg in Europe’s most important club competition.
Aaronson’s price has gone up
Leeds United was keen on signing the USMNT star during the winter transfer window, but RB Salzburg decided to hold on to him because of the, at that time, upcoming series in the round of 16 against the German giants. Now that they have been eliminated the rumor of him leaving can become a reality in the upcoming weeks.
The 21-year-old could follow the steps of Erling Haaland and Sadio Mané, who both played at Salzburg. The Austrian side is well aware that Aaronson will leave in the summer and according to Transfermarkt, Leeds United will have to pay close to $30 million to sign him.
