LAFC defeats Inter Miami in first road win of the season
The ‘Black and Gold’ played for the first time in franchise history at DRV PNK stadium and they walked out with the three points after a 2-0 victory.
Los Angeles Football Club arrived and conquered Miami in their first visit to the DRV PNK stadium on Saturday morning. The ‘Black & Gold’ took the lead in the 45th minute when Kwadwo Opoku received the ball after a slight deflection and from a tight angle he found the back of the net with his right foot.
Just before the break, Brek Shea saw a red card after bringing down Brian Rodriguez to prevent a breakaway. That was a confidence booster for Los Angeles FC and in the second half Ismael Tajouri scored the second goal of the night to give the visiting side the victory and the three points to remain undefeated on the season with a 2W-1D-0L record.
“It was a sloppy performance and aside from the win and the clean sheet we [LAFC] have a lot to work on. The positive note of this group is that they find a way to win and I am happy with that,” said LAFC coach Steve Cherundolo after the 2-0 win against Inter Miami.
Red card changed the game for Inter Miami
On the other hand, the team owned by David Beckham is having a very disappointing start to the 2022 MLS regular season with two back-to-back defeats and a draw. Inter Miami is struggling on offense and defense. The team managed by Phil Neville has only scored one goal in three matches and conceded seven, including a 5-1 defeat against Austin last week.
“It cost us the game, really. I expected a little more quality from us [Inter Miami] and they need to step up,” said Neville during the postgame press conference.
