Argentina, France and Norway have joined Mexico, the United States and Germany in qualifying for the knockout stage with a game to spare.
Argentina, France and Norway are the latest teams to book their spots in the round of 32 at the 2026 World Cup after posting their second wins of the tournament on Monday, June 22.
They will join Mexico, the United States and Germany in the next round.

Messi makes more history
Lionel Messi is now the outright all-time leading goalscorer in World Cup history after scoring both goals in Argentina’s 2-0 victory over Austria. The brace followed his hat trick in a 3-0 triumph over Algeria.
The defending champions are guaranteed to advance as Group J winners, regardless of what happens in their final game against Jordan.
Mbappé and Haaland keep pace
The other big guns also came to the fore later Monday. Kylian Mbappé scored his second brace of the group stage as France defeated Iraq 3-0, following its opening 3-1 victory over Senegal.
In the same group, Erling Haaland matched that feat with two goals in Norway’s 3-2 victory over Senegal. The striker had also scored a brace in last week’s 4-1 win over Iraq.
France and Norway will battle for top spot in Group I in Boston on Friday, June 26.

With one game still to play, four teams have already booked their return flights home. Haiti, Tunisia, Turkey and Jordan have all been knocked out after losing their opening two matches.

The World Cup schedule then moves into its decisive stages after the round of 32. The round of 16 will be played from July 4 to July 7, followed by the quarter-finals from July 9 to July 12, the semi-finals on July 14 and 15, the third-place play-off on July 18, and the final on July 19 at MetLife Stadium in New York/New Jersey.
