Kyrie Irving scores 60 points for the Nets against the Magic
Since being allowed to play at away games, the Brooklyn guard has catapulted the Nets to another win, adding fuel to the conversation about vaccination
What an incredible game for Kyrie Irving, who scored a career-high 60 points. By the half, the point guard had 41 points already; on a game, his team ended up winning 150-108. The Nets dominated the game from start to finish, and the Orlando magic never had the opportunity to be able to mount a comeback.
No time to waste
It took just a first half, 23 minutes, for Kyrie to shut the game down against the Magic. He went 14 for 19 from the field, 6-for7 from the 3pt line, and 7-7 for free throws. This is one of the most impressive offensive displays in recent NBA history for a first half.
Moreover, Kyrie's game was so outstanding that the home team fans, the magic fans, started to cheer for him every time he hit a new shot. The crowd's admiration only grew stronger throughout the game. Right after making his last three pointer, he pointed to the ceiling tapping his heart as the Magic fans chanted, "Kyrie Kyrie."
The Nets have enjoyed Kyrie only on away games as the Brooklyn player is not yet vaccinated. New York City mandate makes it mandatory that everyone is vaccinated to play basketball in the league at home games.
Durant or Irving?
Kevin Durant has been back with the team in the last three games after coming out of injury. A big help for a franchise sitting in the eighth seed of the Eastern Conference. But after a few games above the 40 point threshold for Irving, there is a new debate, is Durant the best player on the Nets, or is it Kyrie?
Regardless of who is the better Net, this has been one of the most dominating exhibitions by any player in recent history.
