Aubameyang and Araujo stun Real Madrid in Clásico

Los Blancos may have run away from their eternal rivals this season, but bragging rights were on the line as the two met at the Bernabéu on Sunday.

Sunday night was Clásico time in LaLiga, in what was the 248th meeting between Real Madrid and Barcelona. The hosts at the Santiago Bernabéu were kitted up all in black - we can explain why - and their Catalan guests were in their own second kit, based on their regional flag, the Senyera.

It was a fairly bright start from both sides with a few chances being created. But then, on the 13th minute, one of Barça's new signings, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, was left all alone in front of goal with only Thibault Courtois to beat. The former Arsenal man fluffed the effort and it was an easy save.

As the half hour arrived, however, the Gabonese striker was able to make amends, heading in a fabulous cross from Dembélé, who had skinned Nacho on the right.

Things were to get better for the visitors. Just six minutes later, and after a Vinicius claim for a penalty had rightly been waved away, Araujo struck.

The LaLiga title may be long gone, but Barça were showing how this Xavi revolution is taking shape.
