The USMNT have been drawn in Group B with 2018 semi-finalists England, Iran and the winner of Ukraine/Scotland/Wales.
The US begin Group B in November against the winner of the European play-off, which will be between Wales and the winner of Ukraine-Scotland. The Ukraine-Scotland fixture will be held in June, due to the onging war in Ukraine. The play-off fixture has been postponed but there is still no fixed date for its rearrangement.
Four days later, Gregg Berhalter's side come up against England, for what is likely to be their trickiest test in the group. They then play Iran in their last group game on 29 November.
USA met England in previous World Cups
The USA have played England and Iran in previous World Cups. They have surprised England before, in 1950, with a famous win that knocked the Three Lions out of the tournament, and also in 2010 with a draw that saw the US top the group.
The 2022 World Cup will be the 11th time that the USMNT have featured at a World Cup.
