The first official trailer of ‘A Minecraft Movie’ has been released, giving fans a preview of the live-action film adaptation of the popular video game.
Fans of “Minecraft” can now watch the first official trailer of the live-action adaptation of the popular video game.
The movie is the first movie version of Minecraft, officially the best-selling video game of all time, with over 300 million copies sold and more than 170 million active players.

Directed by Jared Hess, known for his work on “Napoleon Dynamite” and “Nacho Libre”, “A Minecraft Movie” stars Jack Black as Steve, the playable character from the game.
The film also features Jason Momoa as Garrett “The Garbage Man” Garrison, Sebastian Hansen as Henry, Emma Myers as Natalie, and Danielle Brooks as Dawn. These actors play the four misfits who are pulled through a strange portal into the cubic universe called Overworld that “thrives on imagination”.

According to the official synopsis, creativity is “essential to survival” in the world of Minecraft. The four characters are “struggling with ordinary problems” when they are transported to the mysterious world.
“To get back home, they’ll have to master this world (and protect it from evil things like Piglins and Zombies, too) as they embark on a magical quest with an unexpected master craftsman, Steve,” according to the release.
“Together, their adventure will challenge all five to be bold and reconnect with the qualities that make each of them unique and creative… the same skills they need to thrive in the real world.”
The film also stars Jennifer Coolidge, Kate McKinnon, Jemaine Clement, and Matt Berry.
The movie’s trailer has received mixed reviews, though many comments on social media have been negative.
“A Minecraft Movie” will come to theaters and IMAX on April 4, 2025.
