Update:

The 2026 Golden Globes offered one of the clearest early road maps yet for the Oscars, with a night that rewarded ambition and risk across both movies and television. One Battle After Another and Netflix’s Adolescence emerged as the ceremony’s dominant forces, collecting four awards each and potentially reshaping some of the awards-season narratives.

Paul Thomas Anderson finally broke his Globe drought with wins for director, screenplay and best comedy or musical, while Adolescence confirmed its status as the year’s most culturally resonant TV drama. Elsewhere, international cinema made a strong showing, streaming platforms continued to rival traditional studios, and several first-time acting winners added some spice to the Oscars conversation. With Academy nominations looming, many of these victories seem more than just a celebration off today, with them also being positioning for March.
