How much does the America’s Got Talent winner get?

The winners of each season of AGT are given $1 million in prize money - although they don’t actually receive that much up front. They can opt to get the full figure in annual pre-tax instalments - understood to be $25,000 each - or receive a smaller lump sum.

At the end of each episode of America’s Got Talent, the credits reveal: “The prize, which totals $1,000,000, is payable in a financial annuity over forty years, or the contestant may choose to receive the present cash value of such annuity.”

While details of the size of the lump sum have not been disclosed, the financial publication Forbes has previously estimated it to be around $300,000 before tax.
