‘Aquaman 2’ reportedly undergoing major story changes

After performing poorly in test screenings, ‘Aquaman: The Lost Kingdom’ is reportedly undergoing some major story changes.

After performing poorly in test screenings, ‘Aquaman: The Lost Kingdom’ is reportedly undergoing some major story changes.

Following harsh criticism in ‘Aquaman: The Lost Kingdom’ test screenings, the film is reportedly making significant changes to the plot despite being in post-production.

In a series of now deleted tweets, insider KC Walsh revealed that DC is taking action amid the terrible reviews.

“Every test screening has had mostly unfinished VFX, and no one walked out, the main issue was they completely changed the plot and villains of the film, it’s not even the same movie that tested 4 times prior.”

One viewer described the film as “boring, not as good as the first, and potentially one of the worst DCEU movies.”

Robert Meyer Burnett told The John Campea show: “I have heard that they’re doing reshoots.

“They’re changing a significant plot point… Look, this movie, just like the first one, I’m sure, the potential for goofiness is there… A lot of people don’t dig that…

“There’s a lot of people where that’s not their thing. So, it might be a tonal issue. It might be something that it’s too fantasy for them. I just don’t buy it until we see the whole film.

“The problem is, people would rather report on something being bad than good.”

A terrible road ahead

The DCEU has recently undergone drastic changes following James Gunn’s new leadership role as a co-CEO for DC Studios. Notably, films like ‘Wonder Woman 3′ are no longer in production and some actors like Henry Cavill (Superman/Clark Kent) are being recast.

Previous to Gunn’s stepping into his new role, a ‘Batgirl’ film starring Leslie Grace was in production and was highly anticipated by fans.

The film was near completion when it was canceled due to negative responses from test screenings. The Guardian reports that ‘Batgirl’ is one of the most expensive movies to be canceled to date.

It’s unknown if DC can salvage the film or if ‘Aquaman 2′ will ultimately receive the ‘Batgirl’ treatment.
