LATIN AMERICAN MUSIC AWARDS
Bad Bunny and Karol G among the top nominees at the 2023 Latin American Music Awards
The biggest stars in Latin music will be celebrated at this year’s Latin American Music Awards in April
On Monday, the nominations for the 2023 Latin American Music Awards were announced, and it’s clear that Bad Bunny is a serious contender for multiple awards.
Leading the group of nominees with 11 nominations, Bad Bunny is closely followed by Becky G, and fellow Puerto Rican and reggaeton legend Daddy Yankee, who each have nine nominations.
Here’s a closer look at the rest of the nominees.
The top nominees
Among the top nominees are Karol G, Rauw Alejandro, Romeo Santos, and Rosalía. Karol G is nominated for Artist of the Year and is fresh off enjoying the success of her latest album ‘Mañana Será Bonito’, which enjoyed a number-one spot on the Billboard 200 Chart.
Both she and Shakira also shared a number-one song with ‘TQG’, which appears on ‘Mañana Será Bonito’ on the Billboard Hot Latin Songs. The song then peaked at number 7 on the Billboard Hot 100.
Blessd, Edén Muñoz, Grupo Frontera, Los Lara, Luis Figueroa and Bizarrap are among the nominees for Best New Artist. Bizarrap is perhaps most well-known for his collaboration with Shakira for the song ‘Shakira: Bzrp Music Sessions, Vol. 53′, released in January. The song is a diss track aimed at Shakira’s ex-partner, Gerard Piqué, and has become an anthem for women’s empowerment.
Carlos Vives and Pepe Aguilar are both set to be honored at the 2023 Latin AMA’s with legacy awards.
