Best social media reactions to John Krasinski being named Sexiest Man Alive 2024
“The Office” star Krasinski has joined Brad Pitt, George Clooney and Johnny Depp in being named People magazine’s Sexiest Man Alive.
Brad Pitt, George Clooney, Tom Cruise, Johnny Depp, John Krasinski. The star of “The Office” wasn’t among the red-hot favourites to be named Sexiest Man Alive 2024 but prevailed over the likes of Glen Powell, Pedro Pascal and Ryan Reynolds, as announced on “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert” on CBS on Tuesday (November 12).

The 45-year-old, who is married to and has three children with British actress Emily Blunt, could hardly have offered a more clichéd reaction to People magazine, similar to other SMAs in the past.
“No, this is not a dream. What is happening? Just immediate blackout. So the brain just turned off actually. Zero thoughts, other than maybe I’m being punked. And then after that, it was just a full surreality. That’s now how I wake up, usually thinking, ‘Is this the day I’ll be asked to be Sexiest Man Alive?’ And yet, it was the day”.
Is there any other acceptable public reaction to being named Sexiest Man Alive than disbelief, either fake or genuine?
As you might expect, some inhabitants of the cruel place that is social media shared that disbelief and Krasinski’s view that he had been “punked”. And many of the dissenting voices took a direct approach in venting their disagreement.
And yes, there were also plenty of references to “The Office,” with Steve, played by Randall Park, seemingly offered up as an alternative candidate (for anyone who hasn’t seen the show, Park’s character, nicknamed “Asian Jim” appears as a prank replacement for Jim Halpert, played by Krasinski).
Others were simply left disappointed/flabbergasted that their own personal favourites didn’t win, with fans of Pascal and Powell seemingly feeling the strongest about it.
But if you’re reading, John, there are also plenty out there who are in total agreement with the award, which is decided by People magazine (i.e. nobody votes for it).
There’s nothing quite like social media to divide opinion. As the old saying goes, beauty is very much in the eye of the beholder.
But what does Blunt think about her husband’s newest accolade? “She was very excited”, explains Krasinski. “There was a lot of joy involved. But I do think it’s going to make me do more household chores, but I’m willing to take the cons with the pros, to be honest with you. I think after the cover comes out, she’ll be like, ‘Alright, that means you’re really going to have to earn it here at home”.
