Cristiano Ronaldo and his partner Georgina Rodríguez have distanced themselves somewhat from the soccer player’s family in the recent times, with speculation suggesting the Spanish influencer and Netflix star isn’t on the best of terms with her in-laws.

Ronaldo and Georgina to snub niece’s christening

According to media in Portugal, the couple have been invited, along with their children, to the christening of Ronaldo’s niece, but have no intention of going. And that comes despite the fact that Katia Aveiro, the Portugal captain’s sister will travel to Madeira from her family home in Brazil for the ceremony on 27 August, of which her daughter Valentina will be the star.

Ronaldo, of course, has the perfect “excuse” not to go, as he currently plays for Al Nassr in Saudi Arabia, where the league season has just begun. However, Georgina and their children aren’t scheduled to attend, despite being invited.

Family’s repeated attempts to get close to celebrity couple

The family is said to be saddened by the news, if not completely surprised. Reports in Portugal claim repeated attempts have been made to reach out to the couple in recently, but the door has remained closed each time.

“It’s a pity, but in the end they won’t come. He’ll have started playing again in Saudi Arabia and it’s not exactly next door. Even if you have your own plane, it wouldn’t be easy for him to come on those dates”, Ronaldo’s older brother Hugo Aveiro told Diario da Madeira.
