Diddy disappointed after request to delay sex trafficking and racketeering trial is rejected
The rapper is set to face trial starting May 5, 2025, on charges including organized crime, sex trafficking and human trafficking.

The legal pressure is intensifying around Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs, who will stand trial starting May 5, 2025, in one of the most high-profile cases in recent US history. A federal judge has denied the rapper’s request to delay the trial by two months, ensuring jury selection will proceed as scheduled.
Combs’ defense team had sought additional time to prepare after the New York Prosecutor’s Office increased the charges against him from three to five, including organized crime, sex trafficking, and human trafficking. However, Judge Arun Subramanian rejected the motion, stating, “It’s unclear why there isn’t sufficient time to prepare.”

Comb’s attorneys have also filed a motion to exclude CCTV video footage from the upcoming trial. The footage, obtained by CNN, shows him violently punching ex-girlfriend Cassie Ventura in the hallway of the InterContinental Hotel in Century City, Los Angeles in 2016.
Key Developments
- The judge ruled that portions of the Warner Bros Discovery docuseries Fall of Diddy—featuring statements from a former employee and ex-partner—can be used as evidence, despite attempts by the company to block its inclusion.
- Combs, who remains in custody without bail, pleaded not guilty to two new charges related to sex trafficking and transportation for prostitution, both tied to an unidentified victim.
Background and allegations
The 55-year-old music mogul, arrested in September 2024, has faced numerous accusations of abuse over the years. While Combs maintains that the alleged conduct was consensual, the case has drawn attention to the broader pattern of allegations against him.
Combs, who is currently being held without bail at Brooklyn’s notorious Metropolitan Detention Center (MDC), is expected to appear in court again on April 25, ahead of the trial’s official start.
