Disney’s Top 10 highest-grossing movies of all time: Can ‘Moana 2’ sneak into the ranking?

After raking it in just a few days after its release in theaters, “Moana 2” is aiming to be one of the top 10 highest-grossing films in Disney’s history.

The debut of “Moana 2″in theaters is turning in stratospheric numbers, having reached a whopping $221 million over Thanksgiving weekend in the United States alone.

This figure exceeds those of other very popular Disney films, and in the field of animation it is above the $111 million of “Monsters Inc.”, the $120 million of “Inside Out” or the $94 million (which would be $127 million today taking into account inflation) of “Frozen”. Could it be among the highest-grossing in the history of the company?

To give you an idea, “The Incredibles 2″ is at number 14 on the list, with a total of $1.242 billion in box office earnings. If we think about just its first few days in theaters, “Moana 2″ takes the lead.

The sequel to the friendly family of superheroes grossed almost $183 million at the time, which would be the equivalent of $229 million today. Not bad, but still below “Moana 2″.

However, things get more complicated if we include the Marvel and Star Wars films in the equation, but “Moana 2″ is perfectly on track to sneak into a top 10 in which Marvel dominates. Currently, Disney’s latest animated film is in 85th place with $386 million worldwide, with time to climb much higher.4
