Doja Cat named Songwriter of the Year at the 2023 BMI Pop Music Awards
Doja Cat has won seven BMI awards.
Doja Cat was named Songwriter of the Year at the 2023 BMI Pop Music Awards on Tuesday, at a private event held at the Beverly Wilshire Hotel in Beverly Hills.
Six of Doja’s songs were highlighted as the most performed songs of 2022, which included ‘Get Into It (Yuh)’, ‘I Like You (A Happier Song)’, ‘Need to Know’, ‘Vegas’, and ‘Woman’.’
Doja has previously won several BMI awards, including Song of the Year in 2021 for ‘Say So’, and Most Performed Song of the Year for ‘Kiss Me More’ in 2022.
The news of Doja’s win comes as she denounced her old albums ‘Hot Pink’ and ‘Planet Her’ in a series of tweets yesterday, calling them “cash grabs” and saying that everyone “fell for them”.
“planet her and hot pink were cash-grabs and yall fell for it,” she tweeted. “now i can go disappear somewhere and touch grass with my loved ones on an island while yall weep for mediocre pop.”
She then confirmed the title of her upcoming rap-centric album: ‘First of All’.

“The Company negotiates music license agreements and distributes the fees it generates as royalties to its affiliated writers and publishers when their songs are performed in public.”
