Dua Lipa gets Henry Cavill and John Cena dancing in Argylle
The director of the Kingsman saga wants to “reinvent the spy genre” with a film full of stars.
Who hasn’t danced to songs like ‘Physical’, ‘Levitating’ and ‘Dance the Night’? The ‘Barbie’ soundtrack is just the latest headlined by the singer Dua Lipa which seems to guarantee success, and now she’s to be getting our musical muscles moving to the beat in ‘Argylle’, the new action comedy starring Henry Cavill and John Cena, among others.
What is Argylle about and when is it released?
“A novelist with amnesia slowly regains his memory and remembers that he was once a world-class spy named Argylle (Henry Cavill),” the film’s official synopsis reads.
Evidently, the presence of Cavill himself (‘Man of Steel’, ‘The Witcher’) and that of John Cena (‘Fast X’, ‘Peacemaker’), in addition to the debut for the British singer, following her cameo in the mentioned ‘Barbie’, has tongues wagging as the trailer is unveiled.
The full cast includes a plethora of other stars. This includes Bryce Dallas Howard (‘The Village’, ‘Jurassic World’), Bryan Cranston (‘Breaking Bad’, ‘Your Honor’), and Samuel L. Jackson (‘The Avengers’, ‘Pulp Fiction’).
Expectations are further heightened knowing that behind the camera is Matthew Vaughn, the director of incredibly fun action films like ‘Kick-Ass’, ‘X-Men: First Class’, and the three ‘Kingsman’ instalments: ‘Kingsman: The Secret Service’, ‘Kingsman: The Golden Circle’, and ‘The King’s Man: The First Mission’. The movie is based on the first novel by writer Ellie Conway, and according to Vaughn himself, it aims to “reinvent the spy genre.”
‘Argylle’ is set to premiere on 2 February 2024, in movie theatres, and when it eventually arrives on streaming platforms, it will be on Apple TV.
