Ellen Pompeo: “Could you write me a big old check for Children’s?” This superstar’s response does not fail to disappoint
The ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ actress appeared in one of the superstar’s music videos along with Selena Gomez, Hailee Steinfeld, Gigi Hadid and others.
Ellen Pompeo admits that she doesn’t think medical series drama ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ will ever end. “The fans keep it alive - it’s their show really. They’ve taken it over!” she told Jennifer Hudson this week.
While she will be best remembered for her role as Meredith Grey in the ABC drama, Pompeo was also asked about her appearance as Luna in Taylor Swift’s music video for her 2015 hit with Kendrick Lamar, Bad Blood. “Ten years ago you were in a Taylor Swift video?” an incredulous Hudson asked.
“Actually, I forgot about Taylor,” Ellen began. “So that’s true, I did get a lot of points for that [with her kids, Stella Luna and Sienna May]. That needs so much mileage, honestly, with both of the girls.

“And Taylor is such a good girl. I didn’t know her and she invited me to be in the video, and I thought, ‘Oh that’ll be fun’. And I went and did the video, it was honestly, the easiest thing, it was an hour or two. And, at the time, Chris [Ivery] and I were.. we do a lot of volunteering for children’s hospitals her in Los Angeles.
“They have an amazing program at Children’s where they make music for the babies in the NICU. And for the parents who have to go to work all day and they can’t be with the kids, they record their voices singing nursery rhymes or telling them stories and they play it for the babies in the day when the parents can’t be there. And it really... the babies respond to it and it increases their outcomes, makes their outcomes more positive.
“It’s a really nice program but they need money to run it,” Pompeo continued. “So I just got up the chutzpah and asked Taylor, ‘Could you write me a big old check for Children’s?’ and she honestly knew me all but 20 minutes and that girl wrote me the biggest check without blinking an eye.”
