A new Peacock documentary features exclusive interviews with Scott Peterson, the California man who two decades ago was convicted of murdering his heavily pregnant wife, Laci, and their unborn baby.

Peterson behind bars for 2002 murder

Peterson is serving a life sentence without parole for the double homicide, having had his punishment commuted from the death penalty in 2021.

In a case that grabbed national and international headlines, Laci Peterson, who was eight months pregnant with the couple’s first child - a son set to be named Conner - disappeared from Modesto, California, on Christmas Eve 2002. Laci and Conner’s bodies were discovered in San Francisco Bay in April 2003.

Scott has maintained his innocence ever since he was arrested later that month, and has persuaded the Innocence Project, a non-profit that looks into potential wrongful convictions, to take up his case.

Out next week, Face to Face with Scott Peterson will examine the 49-year-old’s conviction, and will see him speak on camera for the first time since his arrest 21 years ago. “While many still believe the jury got it right,” reads the show’s official synopsis, “Scott’s family and experts close to the case have spent over 20 years committed to uncovering inconsistencies in the evidence as well as finding new information around alternative theories surrounding Laci’s murder.”

When does Face to Face with Scott Peterson premiere?

The three-part docuseries premieres on the streaming service Peacock on Tuesday August 20. All three episodes will drop at the same time.
