Gekko in Miami: Bad Bunny’s restaurant where Leo Messi and Antonela celebrated her birthday

Gekko is rated as one of the most luxurious restaurants in Miami, so it’s no surprise that celebrities such as Messi and Antonela regularly dine there.

After achieving success with various collaborations in musicBad Bunny has decided to diversify his portfolio by launching his own restaurant. En 2022, the Monaco singer joined forces with businessman David Grutman to open his first restaurant: Gekko, located in Brickell, in the the heart of Miami’s financial center.

Since the night it opened, Gekko has enjoyed a reputation as one of the most fashionable restaurants in the area, so it’s hardly surprising that A-listers are regularly spotted dining there. Among the celebrities who have passed through its doors are Lionel Messi and Antonela - the couple have been the center of attention in the Magic City since the day the Argentine No.10 joined Inter Miami.

At the end of February, Messi and his wife booked a table at Gekko to celebrate Antonela’s 36th birthday. They invited a number of their close friends to share the evening including Leo’s team mates Sergio Busquets, Jordi Alba and Luis Suárez, as well as Argentine DJ and producer Bizarrap, who was in charge of providing musical ambience.

Gekko is a high-end, Japanese steakhouse-style restaurant, located in the SLS Lux Brickell Hotel, in Miami, Florida. Its name means ‘moonlight’ in Japanese, which is why the interior is decorated with a nod towards Asian culture and aesthetics boasting a subtle palette of dark colors with a few touches of light which allows guests to enjoy dinner in an intimate setting.

Gekko immerses customers in a fusion between the modernity of a steakhouse environment and the precision of Japanese cuisine, Guests will encounter an interesting variety of dishes, from top quality, premium cuts of meat to seafood plus a drinks menu which features cocktails and a selection of fine wines.

Given the establishment’s exclusivity, eating at Gekko doesn’t come cheap. Prices can be found online menu and a number of influencers have rated their visits to the restaurant, all of them noting the high food prices. Among the most expensive dishes is the Tomahawk steak, aged and dried for 30 days at $250, the Royal Osetra caviar at $185; wagyu skirt steak at $105 and the Ribeye steak at $85. The rest of the dishes, such as oysters, lobster dumplings, maki and desserts, are priced between $20 and $40.
