Julia Roberts congratulates Pep Guardiola on Man City’s Champions League victory

Manchester City lifted the European trophy with a 1-0 victory over Inter Milan on Saturday, and Guardiola’s celebration just got a little sweeter

Acclaimed Hollywood actress Julia Roberts has extended her heartfelt congratulations to Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola following his remarkable achievement of guiding the club to their first-ever Champions League triumph.

Taking to Instagram, Roberts posted: ‘Congratulations @pepteam for leading your team to be UCL champions’.

In a hard-fought final against Inter Milan, City secured a 1-0 victory to claim the prestigious Champions League title in Istanbul. Midfield stalwart Rodri scored the decisive goal, elegantly finding the back of the net in the 68th minute.

Roberts, once regarded as one of Guardiola’s cherished idols, took the opportunity to congratulate the Catalan maestro for leading City to this illustrious trophy. With this triumph in Istanbul, Guardiola has now secured his third Champions League victory as a manager. He previously achieved this feat with Barcelona in 2009 and 2011, defeating Manchester United on both occasions. However, despite these remarkable successes, Guardiola humbly described himself as a “failure” due to the influence of Roberts on his life during a post-match interview after City’s resounding 7-0 victory over RB Leipzig in the last-16 stage.

Following City’s 7-0 victory over RB Leipzig in March, the Spaniard insisted that he will always fail due to Roberts.

‘I am a failure in the Champions League,’ Guardiola said. ‘If win the Champions League three times in a row I will be a failure... I have three idols in my life. Michael Jordan, Tiger Woods, and Julia Roberts. These are my three idols.”

Perhaps this kind gesture from Roberts may sweeten Guardiola’s accomplishment.
