Blanchett is considered one of the best actresses of her generation and of the 21st century. Her talent on the big screen, as well as her roles in theater, attest to her abilities. She is known for being chameleonic, able to adapt to any type of role and do it so well as to be nominated for various awards.

The Australian is capable of mastering different accents, such as English, Irish, French, and various regional accents from the United States, a skill which sets her apart from many of her peers. She started in the industry in her native Australia, when she decided to take to the stage in the year of her graduation (1992) for the play ‘Electra’, and from there, she grew, until two years later (1994), she made her film debut in ‘Police Rescue’.

Little by little, she made a name for herself, with small roles also on the small screen. But her true interest lay in film, playing Queen Elizabeth I in ‘Elizabeth’. A role that catapulted her to fame, as well as winning her awards such as a BAFTA, a Golden Globe, and her first nomination for an Oscar.

Big productions were vying for her. Everyone wanted Cate Blanchett on their sets, but she only wanted to accept roles that truly brought her new experiences, going so far as to reject many roles. Although she did accept the role of Galadriel the elf in a big franchise like ‘The Lord of the Rings’, as well as assuming this role in ‘The Hobbit’ movies.

Success transformed into awards for Blanchett

In 2004, she had the opportunity to participate alongside Martin Scorsese in ‘The Aviator’, playing Katharine Hepburn. A role that ultimately led her to win her first Oscar for Best Supporting Actress, receive endless good reviews, and receive multiple film offers that she later accepted, such as ‘Babel’ (2006), ‘Notes on a Scandal’ (2006), ‘Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull’ (2008), ‘The Curious Case of Benjamin Button’ (2008) and ‘Blue Jasmine’ (2013), for which she received her second Oscar, this time for Best Actress, a Golden Globe, a BAFTA, and a Screen Actors Guild award, among others.

In 2023, Blanchett was after her third Oscar, the second for Best Actress, after a total of eight nominations (including her wins), thanks to ‘TÁR’, where the actress took on the role of Lydia Tár, the musician who is about to record the symphony of her life, but whose fate turns against her.
