Day nine of Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs’s sex trafficking trial at the federal courthouse in Manhattan is expected to see rapper Kid Cudi take the stand to testify. Cudi, whose real name is Scott Mescudi, was briefly in a relationship with Cassie Ventura, Combs’s on-and-off girlfriend and allegedly threatened both of them with assault.

Witnesses take the stand in Diddy sex-trafficking case

Ventura accused Combs lunging at her with a wine bottle opener when he discovered she was seeing Cudi in her bombshell testimony last week. Over four days of testimony, she gave details of the countless sordid, drug-fueled orgies, or “freak offs” - described as “elaborate and produced sex performances that Combs arranged, directed and masturbated during, and often electronically recorded.”

Dawn Richard, who collaborated with Combs for the best part of a decade, is suing the mogul for sexual assault and battery. She took to the stand on Monday and described how she witnessed Combs physically assault his former girlfriends,.

In total, Combs is facing five criminal counts: one count of racketeering conspiracy; two counts of sex trafficking by force, fraud or coercion; and two counts of transportation to engage in prostitution. He denies all the allegations.

Combs net worth slumps

The legal battle has had a dramatic impact on Combs’ finances and business empire. His net worth currently stands at an estimated $400 million - substantially down from the 2024 figure of somewhere between $600 million and one trillion.

His income has been impacted as a number of brands, sponsors and businesses have either cut ties completely, or distanced themselves since the legal proceedings started.

Companies give Diddy the cold shoulder

Capital Preparatory School in Harlem which Combs helped co-found in 2016 severed ties with the disgraced mogul in November 2023. Head Dr. Steve Perry explained the decision in a statement: “Following a comprehensive evaluation, a decision has been made to end the partnership between Capital Preparatory Schools and Sean Combs. While this decision was not made lightly, we firmly believe it is in the best interest of our organization’s health and future.”

Others followed suit. Several companies related to Diddy’s e-commerce website Empower Global have terminated their relationship with Combs.

James Corden’s production company, Fulwell 73 was was set to produced a reality series based on Combs and his family for Hulu but the project was scrapped in December 2023.

Los Angeles-based music management company Salxco who represent clients including Doja Cat, Bebe Rexha, Nicki Minaj and the Weeknd took Combs’ name off their roster in January 2024.

According to TMZ, Diddy offloaded all of his shares of Revolt TV to an anonymous buyer in March 2024. It is reported he held a majority stake in the company.

A couple of months later, exercise equipment and media company Peloton announced that they had “paused the use of Sean Combs’ music, as well as removed the Bad Boy Entertainment Artist Series, on our platform”.

And more recently Macy’s have withdrawn items relating to the Sean John brand, Diddy’s clothing and eyewear line - the Sean John official store is still running but appears to have had the shopping basket function removed.
