Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour has taken in several cities in the United States, including Kansas City, home of the NFL’s Kansas City Chiefs. Travis Kelce, the team’s tight end, was determined not to miss it and went along to the concert, held at GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium on 7 July, with a plan.

Speaking on the New Heights podcast, which he hosts with brother Jason, Kelce revealed his intention was to have given the pop superstar his phone number by the end of the night. It was a mission that failed, however.

Kelce’s friendship bracelet ploy to hand Swift his number

In keeping with the trend set by ‘Swifites’ of attending gigs wearing friendship bracelets, Kelce went along with one that had his phone number on it, which he had hoped to give to the singer.

However, things didn’t quite work out as planned. “I was disappointed that she doesn’t talk before or after her shows because she has to save her voice for the 44 songs that she sings,” said Kelce on the 26 July episode of New Heights.

“I was a little butthurt that I didn’t get to hand her one of the bracelets I made for her. I received a bunch of them being there, but I wanted to give Taylor Swift one with my number on it”, Travis told brother Jason.

“Your number as in 87 or your phone number?” Jason quipped, referring to Travis’ Kanas City Chiefs jersey number, to which Travis replied: “You know which one”.

Which other celebrities have attended The Eras Tour?

The NFL star isn’t the only celebrity to have been spotted at one of Swift’s concert. On the very same night in Kansas City, the singer invited Taylor Lautner, Joey King and Presley Cash along as special guests, with the trio having starred in her music video for “I Can See You” from her album Speak Now (Taylor’s Version).

Other stars who have been seen at her gigs include Simu Liu, Julia Roberts, Drew Barrymore, Busy Philipps, Miles and Keleigh Teller, Julia Garner, Cara Delevingne, Mariska Hargitay, Rachel Zegler, Laura Dern and Shania Twain.
