How Rihanna made maternity chic at the Oscars

The artist took maternity style to a whole new level at Sunday’s Oscars show.

Rihanna’s return to the stage this year after a seven-year hiatus finds the artist taking on big performances. In January, she performed at the Super Bowl halftime show while revealing that she was pregnant with her second child.

But pregnancy hasn’t stopped her live-performance roll, with the artist having just performed her Oscar-nominated song ‘Lift Me Up’ from the ‘Black Panther: Wakanda Forever’ movie soundtrack at Sunday’s Oscar show.

Plenty of outfit changes for Oscar night

Rihanna had plenty of outfit changes prepared for Sunday night’s Oscars show. The ‘Diamonds’ singer was first spotted heading to the Dolby Theater backstage in an outfit that was chic and comfortable.

She wore a $380 Jean Paul Gaultier green bucket hat, and a Philadelphia Eagles jersey, an ironic choice after her Super Bowl LVII halftime performance where the Kansas City Chiefs beat the Eagles. She completed the outfit with a classic pair of Puma sneakers. Rihanna’s brand Fenty previously collaborated with the sneaker brand, but she did not wear sneakers from the collab.

Making her way to the champagne-colored “red” carpet, the artist wore a sultry black Alaïa dress, complete with leather train with subtle slits along the skirt, and a leather bandeau. And of course, in typical Rihanna style, she made no effort to hide her baby bump, instead highlighting her pregnant status, creating a maternity chic look. Her makeup, using Fenty makeup products, featured her signature red lips.

When it was time for Rihanna to take to the stage, she changed again. In an outfit designed by John Galliano, she wore a Maison Margiela tulle halter top that almost looked to be dripping in crystals with matching floral print pants. She wore diamond necklaces and black leather opera gloves, with her hair pulled back. Following her performance, she received a standing ovation.

Spending time with her partner

Backstage, Rihanna was spotted in yet another outfit change, this time donning a teal-colored set from Bottega Veneta alongside her partner, and father of her children, rapper A$AP Rocky.

The couple was spotted hugging and laughing with each other while posing for photos, with Rocky proudly showing off Rihanna’s baby bump.

During Rihanna’s performance, he was seen ecstatically celebrating, lifting his glass of champagne, and visibly proud of the mother of his children.
