Howard Stern turns 72: This is the shock jock’s net worth after more than 40 years on the radio
The broadcaster has built up a vast personal fortune since his humble beginnings, starting out as a junior presenter with WRNW in 1976.

Today, Howard Stern is celebrating his 72nd birthday in what will be a landmark year in his own long-standing career in broadcasting - half a century since he first took to the airwaves as a fresh-faced 22-year-old at at WRNW in Briarcliff Manor, New York.
50 years on the air
Stern has maintained a loyal following who stayed with him from the transition of analog to digital and has somehow managed to stay relevant while trends come and go.
His edgy morning show at WXRK 92.3 K-Rock was the most listened-to program in New York, New Jersey and Connecticut during the mid 1980s until he left for Sirius in 2005.
Move to Sirius in 2005
His first contract with Sirius was reportedly worth $500 million although a large percentage of that figure was dedicated to production costs and staff wages. Stern was recently reported to have signed a new three-year deal with the broadcaster, worth approximately $90 million per year before production costs and taxes. He produces 120 shows per year, for which he takes home around $333,000 per episode.
In the past 20 years, it is estimated that Stern has earned over $1 billion from a series of record-breaking contracts, putting his net worth at a staggering $650 million. His income from broadcasting is topped up with other revenue from book royalties, film earnings, television appearances along with his investments in real estate.
