FireAid “an evening of music and solidarity”
“Join us for an evening of music and solidarity […] dedicated to rebuilding communities that have been devastated by wildfires,” the FireAid website says in its description of the twin event.
“Contributions made to FireAid in connection with the FireAid benefit concert and other direct donations will be distributed under the advisement of the Annenberg Foundation and will be distributed for short-term relief efforts and long-term initiatives to prevent future fire disasters throughout Southern California.”
The Annenberg Foundation, which describes itself as a “philanthropic foundation dedicated to addressing the critical issues of our time”, has been a major supporter of the response to the fires that this month hit the LA metropolitan area and surrounding regions.
On January 8, the foundation revealed that it had teamed up with the Wasserman Foundation to provide $1 million to the LA Fire Department “for urgently needed equipment and supplies to fight the fires”.
