BLACKPINK’s Jennie reportedly teased what may be a new collab between herself and The Weeknd while DJing at the launch party for her partnership with Calvin Klein in Seoul.

While DJing, the singer played a new song featuring both her and The Weeknd’s vocals and shared a clip of her lip-syncing with the song on her Instagram stories, tagging both ‘The Idol’ Instagram account and The Weeknd.

The song could potentially become the second single from the series’ official soundtrack after The Weeknd released ‘Double Fantasy’ featuring Future.

While DJing, she was accompanied by DJ sisters Simi and Haze Khadra. Simi is currently rumored to be dating The Weeknd.

Who is Jennie playing in ‘The Idol’?

Jennie is also currently slated to appear in ‘The Idol’, joining Lily-Rose Depp, who plays Jocelyn, and The Weeknd, who plays Tedros. She is rumored to be playing a character who becomes one of Jocelyn’s love interests.

Both Lily-Rose Depp and Jennie posed for the cover of Elle USA back in November, where Jennie spoke about her upcoming role.

“[I’ve] always been a fan of all [Levinson’s] work. We got to meet and talk about the possibilities [of] me being in the show, and it worked out magically,” she said of Levinson’s involvement in the series.

Meanwhile, Levinson acknowledged that Jennie’s real-life experience as an idol gave her character a “meta-quality”.

“Watching her learn a full dance routine in about an hour and then perform it flawlessly 10 times in a row was amazing, and of course that’s just a tiny piece of her talent and ability,” Levinson said of Jennie.

Her growing interest in acting

“I’ve never had to be in a place where I was surrounded by so many people that I’m not familiar with, and especially in a different language,” Jennie said of her experience on set.

“But in terms of creativity, it felt just the same. Acting needed all the creative senses that I would use in a music video or any music or any other thing that I have already been doing.

“So surprisingly, it didn’t feel too much apart from what I’ve been doing so far, which was good. So I’m just so thankful.

And I just knew that it was something that I would regret if I didn’t go for it,” she added.

She also said that the experience has made her excited to pursue more acting projects.

I think definitely having this experience has opened my eyes into a new fun way of expressing myself. I’ve learned a lot from Lily[-Rose Depp] while I was shooting, too.”

‘The Idol’ will premiere on Sunday, June 4, 2023, on HBO.
