Melanie Lynskey has been busy promoting the upcoming second season of ‘Yellowjackets’, but her last show ‘The Last of Us’ just finished airing last Sunday. In the series, she had a short two-episode cameo, playing the leader of a revolutionary group in Kansas City, Kathleen.

On Thursday’s episode of ‘The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon’, the actress revealed that she wasn’t alone in her cameo. Her husband, Jason Ritter, had a cameo role as a clicker, in other words, the fungus-infected corpses who attack the living.

Ritter played a clicker that was shot by Lynskey in the show

He was a stunt person. He trained with the stunt people and he just did all these amazing stunts. It’s like his lifelong dream,” Lynskey told Fallon on the episode.

“He got put in the makeup and he came out of the ground and was falling over and doing all of these…I shot him once. Yeah. Why not?” she joked, calling the moment “so romantic.”

Ritter replied to a Twitter post with a picture of him in full prosthetics and makeup, saying, “Just the best day.”

The brief cameo on ‘The Last of Us’ isn’t the first time the couple has worked together. They previously worked in the Hulu true-crime series ‘Candy’ in 2022 starring Jessica Biel, where Lynskey played Betty Gore, and her husband had a cameo role as Deputy Denny Reese.

Interestingly, Biel’s husband, Justin Timberlake, also had a cameo in the series as Deputy Steve Deffibaugh.

Lynskey’s husband will have a guest role in ‘Yellowjackets’

With Lynskey and her fellow ‘Yellowjackets’ cast gearing up for the upcoming second season airing on Sunday, March 26, 2023, Ritter will be seen in an undisclosed role in the second episode of the new season.

I can’t say anything about it, but he did an episode,” Lynskey told E! News at the 2023 Independent Spirit Awards earlier this month.

“It’s always so fun to be with him. He’s such a nice person, he made me look better.”

We’ve been on set together many times,” Melanie added. “It’s a difficult thing, because you’re trying to figure out childcare,” she joked.

Ritter’s guest role in the series follows Elijah Wood, who will be playing a Citizen Detective who challenges Misty, played by Christina Ricci as an adult.
