Model and Miss California Andrea Andrade dies at 35 - what was the cause of death?
American model and Miss California Andrea Andrade has died at the age of 35. She was diagnosed with colon cancer in 2017 and, despite being given a two-year prognosis, lived for nearly a decade after her diagnosis.

The U.S. modeling world is in mourning following the death of Andrea Andrade, a well-known figure on the West Coast with a long and successful career in beauty pageants. Andrade passed away after a long and difficult battle with stage 3 colon cancer. From the moment she was diagnosed in 2017, she chose to speak openly about her illness, aiming to normalize the disease and show that a positive, full life was still possible.
A California native, Andrade held multiple pageant titles, including Miss West Coast, Miss Nuestra Belleza USA, Miss Fresno County, Miss Regional West and Miss California Congeniality. She also built a career as an actress, appearing in numerous television commercials. Doctors discovered her cancer when she was just 26 years old, at the height of her professional career. She was given two years to live but went on to survive for almost a decade.
Her husband’s farewell
Andrade died on January 16, though the news has only now become public. Her husband, Chris Wilson, confirmed her passing. Together, they co-founded the organization Not All Heroes Wear Capes, a project focused on hospital visits, raising awareness about the importance of early cancer detection, and bringing joy to hospitalized children.
Wilson also shared a public obituary, inviting “all those fortunate enough to have known Andrea Andrade” to attend a funeral in her honor on February 4 at St. Anthony of Padua Church in Reedley, California, with a private service for close family and friends scheduled for February 5.
“My eternal love. I know this is not goodbye. I’ll see you on the other side,” Wilson wrote on social media, alongside a series of photos and videos of the couple. He closed with the words he said he never wanted to write: “Keep your heavenly arms around me. I love you, my love.”
