Neighbors sign a petition to kick Nicki Minaj out of her luxurious LA neighborhood
Singer Minaj purchased a house in Hidden Hills six months ago but residents want her out because of her husband’s presence.
Nicki Minaj is undoubtedly one of the planet’s most famous singers and just six months ago decided to buy a luxury house in the exclusive Hidden Hills gated community in California. Sadly for her, her neighbors aren’t exactly delighted to have her around, with reports confirmed that they have signed a petition to have her removed from the neighborhood because of her husband, Kenneth Petty.
Petition reaches more than a 1,200 signatures
It has come to the attention of members of the community that Petty is a registered sex offender in New York State, and as a result, they want him to keep him well away from children living in the neighborhood. Shortly after the couple moved to the area, resident Beverly Bardan started a Change.org petition titled: “SAY NO TO SEX OFFENDERS IN HIDDEN HILLS”.
As well as safety concerns, the petition also cites fears that homes’ appraisal values would drop because of Petty’s presence. At the time of writing, more than 1,200 people have signed the petition, with reaching 1,500 the initial goal. When Minaj and her husband first moved to California, Petty was arrested for failing to register as a sex offender in the state and subsequently ordered to serve one year of home detention.
Petty ordered to settle sexual harassment lawsuit
Meanwhile, a judge has ordered Petty to settle the harassment lawsuit filed against him by Jennifer Hough, who accused him of sexually assaulting her in 1994. Court documents reveal that the two parties were instructed to participate in private mediation in order to then reach a settlement.
Hough’s attorney Tyronne Blackburn has argued that Petty’s legal team isn’t moving fast enough and has requested a scheduling order to ensure that legally binding deadlines are met in future.
In a letter to Judge James R. Cho, Blackburn wrote: “We are counsel to Plaintiff Jennifer Hough in the above-referenced matter. I write jointly with counsel for Defendant Kenneth Petty. As you know, the Court provided the parties with an opportunity to engage in private mediation. The parties participated in private mediation, but unfortunately, we were unable to reach a settlement. We would like to have a scheduling conference with the court to set a scheduling order.”
