After Megan Thee Stallion appeared to throw a jibe at Nicki Minaj and her husband in her latest track, the Trinidadian-born rapper has hit back at the Texan.

Nicki Minaj has offered up a viral social-media response to an apparent diss on Megan Thee Stallion’s new single “Hiss”.

The rappers have been engaged in a simmering feud in recent years, which is believed to have begun when Megan collaborated with Minaj’s rival, Cardi B, on the 2020 song “WAP”.

Megan Thee Stallion appears to aim jab at Minaj, husband

In “Hiss”, which Megan released on Friday, the Texan seemingly took a swipe at Minaj and her husband, convicted sex offender Kenneth Petty, with the lyric: “These hoes don’t be mad at Megan, these hoes mad at Megan’s Law.”

Megan’s Law is a federal law that requires US authorities to create and maintain sex offender registries, and to make information available on registered sex offenders to protect the public.

Passed in 1996, the legislation was brought in following the rape and murder of seven-year-old Megan Kanka by her neighbour, Jesse Timmendequas, who had previous convictions for sexually assaulting young girls.

Music fans, and Minaj herself, have taken Megan Thee Stallion’s line as a reference to Petty, who served four years in prison after being convicted of attempted rape in 1995.

In 2022, Petty was sentenced to one year of house arrest after failing to register as a sex offender in California, having moved to the state with Minaj.

“Bullet fragment foot bitch”: Minaj hits back at Megan Thee Stallion

In response to “Hiss”, Minaj recorded an Instagram Live video in which she called Megan “bullet fragment foot bitch” and teased a snippet of an unreleased song, with the lyrics: “Bad bitch she like six foot, I call her big foot, the bitch fell off I said, ‘Get up on your good foot.’”

Minaj’s lyrics about Megan’s foot seem to refer to the July 2020 incident in which the latter was shot in the foot by Canadian rapper Tory Lanez.

In August 2023, Lanez was sentenced to 10 years in prison for the shooting.

During her Instagram Live video, Minaj also mocked Megan’s rapping skills, saying: “You have three Grammys and you have to learn how to rap on the beat.”

Calls Megan Thee Stallion “serpant”

In addition, Minaj posted a string of messages on X, the social-media platform formerly known as Twitter. In one post, she called Megan a “disgusting serpant” (sic); in another, the 41-year-old posted a photo of her pedicured feet, in what appears to be a further jibe over the Lanez shooting.

For her part, Megan has offered an apparent reaction to Minaj’s response by taking to Instagram Stories to post a photo of herself laughing hysterically.
