Princess of Wales Kate Middleton goes back to work after cancer treatment
A little more than a week after finishing chemotherapy, Middleton has returned to work at Windsor Castle.
Kate Middleton, the Princes of Wales, returned to work on Tuesday having revealed earlier this month she had completed her chemotherapy treatment and is now cancer-free.
After it was revealed the 42-year-old had undergone planned abdominal surgery in January, she released an official statement in March explaining that post-operative tests had discovered cancer and that she had started a course of chemotherapy the previous month.
Understandably, Middleton kept a low profile in the months that followed, but made public appearances at Trooping the Colour, an event honouring King Charles III’s birthday, in June, and Wimbledon, where she presented men’s champion Carlos Alcaraz with his trophy the following month.
Princess of Wales’ “relief” after completing chemotherapy
On September 9, the Princess shared that she had finished her course of preventive chemotherapy and is now focusing on staying cancer-free. In a video message, she explained her “relief to have finally completed my chemotherapy treatment” and described her “cancer journey” as “complex, scary and unpredictable”.
Middleton had also spoke of “looking forward to being back at work and undertaking a few more public engagements in the coming months when I can,” the first part of which she did on Tuesday, as revealed by The Telegraph.
The Court Circular, the official record of past royal engagement, stated “The Princess of Wales, Joint Patron, the Royal Foundation of the Prince and Princess of Wales, this afternoon held an Early Years Meeting at Windsor Castle.”
What is Kate Middleton’s “work”?
An ‘Early Years Meeting’ refers to the Royal Foundation Centre for Early Childhood, which Middleton herself launched in June 2021.
The centre’s mission is to “drive awareness of, and action on, the extraordinary impact of the early years, changing what we think and do on early childhood, in order to transform society for generations to come”.
With her health issues now seemingly behind her, Middleton will hope to return to some sort of ‘normality,’ or at least as much as is possible as a member of the Royal Family.
