Lana Del Rey received the Visionary Award at the 2023 Billboard Women in Music Awards, and many artists, including Rosalía, who received the Producer of the Year Award, had nothing but words of love for the singer.

The singer was presented the award by Olivia Rodrigo, who won last year’s Woman of the Year Award. She later paid it forward by naming her fellow award recipients in her own speech.

A number of warm shout-outs

“Lana has raised an entire generation of music lovers and songwriters like me,” Rodrigo said in her presentation speech.

“[She] taught them that there’s beauty in their vulnerability and power in their melancholy.”

Kim Petras shouted out the singer when she received the Chartbreaker Award, saying: “I couldn’t have made it through high school without Lana, Nicki Minaj, and Madonna.”

When Rosalía took to the stage to receive her award for Producer of the Year, she acknowledged how meaningful the award was to her.

“I’d love to dedicate this award to all the women that are going to be producers, because I’m definitely not the first one, and definitely, definitely not going to be the last one. Thank you so much,” she said.

Lana Del Rey, te quiero,” (Lana Del rey, I love you) she added at the end of her speech.

Lana Del Rey is grateful to have paved the way for women in music

Afterward, both women took pictures together. When it came time for Lana to take to the stage, the singer spoke about how the early years of her career weren’t easy, and how she frequently faced criticism and negativity.

“To be a female singer, that is a wonderful feat. When I released my first album 14 years ago, the waters were not quite as warm,” she began.

“I’m really happy for everyone who feels like it’s a wonderful time in the culture to be themselves and express themselves. It didn’t feel that way in 2008, and I’m so grateful to be in the best company I’ve ever been in. Thank you. I feel like being happy is the ultimate goal, so I did it.”

“To Rose, staggeringly amazing,” she said about Rosalía.

SZA, from the minute I heard you, I knew I wanted to know you. Well, well, well deserved on being Woman of the Year.
