Ryan Gosling opens up to Jason and Travis Kelce about whether he’d actually travel to space after ‘Project Hail Mary’

The star of the much-anticipated new sci-fi film joined the brothers on their podcast where he gave a surprising answer about his views about space travel.

Ryan Gosling wants to keep his feet on Earth

Project Hail Mary will hit theaters this weekend and its star Ryan Gosling has been making the rounds to promote the much-anticipated new sci-fi movie. One of those promotional stops was with brothers Jason and Travis Kelce on their podcast ‘New Heights’ where they asked him if aliens exist and if he’d ever want to go into space.

The actor’s response was a resounding negative on that latter front. “I have no interest in going to space,” he told the Kelce brothers. “I don’t wanna go. I want to pretend to go,” Gosling added. As for whether he believes aliens exist, Gosling says that it’s a subject that is “fun to talk about.”

Aiens aren’t crashing on Earth

The award-winning actor reflected with the Kelce brothers that the conversation around aliens nowadays “has shifted away from: ‘Are there aliens?’, to more like: ‘Where are they and when are we gonna see them?’

Jason agreed saying: “Now it’s like: ‘Oh, no, there’s definitely aliens out there. Just have they, are they with us right now?’ Is the conversation.”

You can most likely rule out Gosling believing in Area 51 and some major government over-up though as he said: “I don’t think they’re like crashing.”

“You know like this whole idea that they’re like coming to Earth and then they’re like what? Like, they’re losing the brakes… ‘Oh no, the brakes!” he reckoned, adding, “that’s all I know… They’re not losing brake fluid on the way in or whatever the hell happens.

Gosling thought that Andy Weir, who wrote the book ‘Project Hail Mary’ that the movie is based on, made a “credible stab” that was “very scientifically grounded” of what an alien and contact with them could potentially be like while doing so in an entertaining way.

Ryan Gosling is going to space on the silver screen again

When asked about if there were any plans in the works for a sequel to ‘Project Hail Mary’ all Gosling could say was that he’d love to participate. But he did let the brothers know that he’ll be in another space-based movie next year.

While it was reported last year that Gosling would be appearing in Star Wars: Starfighter the first original film in the saga in a decade, it was news to the Kelce brothers.

Unfortunately for anyone looking for any scoops about the upcoming Star Wars movie, Gosling didn’t share much. Just that it’s not a part of the timeline of the other Star Wars films and it’s all original characters.

While he has had a ‘golden rule’ about not accepting roles in established franchises, the actor revealed in a recent interview that Shawn Levy’s enthusiasm helped sway him to break it. “It was crazy to be working on a Star Wars film,” he told the Kelce brothers.
