The production of the HBO hit show Euphoria has been put on hold, and series star Storm Reid said she was disappointed but not surprised by the delay.

Fans of the HBO hit show Euphoria will have to wait for the third season to come out on television, as production has been put on hold. Storm Reid, one of the stars of the series, was the first to speak on this development.

According to Variety, Reid was not surprised by what happened.

“We would all hope to be able to go back tomorrow, but there are logistics that have to be figured out. So even though I’m a little disappointed, I’m not surprised,” she told the entertainment magazine.

Reid plays Gia, the sister of the show’s protagonist Rue Bennett, played by Zendaya.

Euphoria production held up by problems with scripts

The drama series was scheduled to begin production later this spring, but the scripts were still not ready. Aside from the Writers Guild of America strike, other factors have contributed to the delay.

The scripts that were drafted after the strike ended were not satisfactory as far as Zendaya was concerned, reported Variety. The actress is both the star and an executive producer of the show.

Show creator Sam Levinson also had to rethink the direction of the series after the death last year of one of its actors, Angus Cloud. The initial idea for the third season had Cloud’s character figuring heavily in the story’s development.

What do we know about the cast of ‘Euphoria’?

While production is postponed, HBO says they are allowing the stars of the series to pursue other projects. Variety sources say the cast members are committed to wrapping up a third season, especially Zendaya, Sydney Sweeney, and Jacob Elordi.

Zendaya is currently basking in the success of Dune: Part Two, which has already raked in more than $580 million worldwide. Sweeney has also recently met with box office success with the romantic comedy Anyone But You.

Meanwhile, Elordi’s film career is also on a roll after the critical acclaim received by Saltburn. He is now busy filming for a Netflix film, Guillermo del Toro’s Frankenstein.

Reid is fresh off her January win at the Emmys for her portrayal of Riley Abel in The Last of Us, and is now on her senior year at the University of Southern California.
