Update:

Be honest, you did not have Taylor Swift singing about Real Madrid on your 2025 bingo card.

We’ve got a government shutdown, a giant orange in charge, and Swift singing about the 15-time European champions. What next? Is Godzilla being brought back from the dead?

The singer/songwriter has duly collapsed the internet today with the release of her [checks notes] 11th studio album, The Life of a Showgirl. Across twelve songs, Swift touches on past loves, fame, and 50 Cent, as well as Xabi Alonso’s squad.

OK, she doesn’t go into the 4-4-2 pressing structure during Real Madrid’s out of possession phase, whether playing Arda Güler as a drifting number 8 or Fede Valverde at right-back, but she mentions the European side in her song, Wi$h Li$t.

Here are the lyrics in question:

[Verse 2]

They want that freedom, living off the grid

They want those three dogs that they call their kids

And that good surf, no hypocrites

They want it all

They want a contract with Real Madrid

They want that spring break that was fuckin’ lit

And then that video taken off the internet

They want it all

Swift clearly knows about the prestige of Real Madrid, arguably the biggest side in world football. It would be hard for her not to, considering that she played 2 nights at the Estadio Santiago Bernabéu back in May. It must have left an impression on her.
