“Saturday Night Live” celebrated 50 seasons being on the air with a special tribute show on Sunday night, which included appearances and performances from several celebrity superstars.

Of the high profile guests, which included Steve Martin, Scarlett Johansson, and Paul McCartney, were two incredible musicians who teamed up for an emotional performance to open the night.
SNL50: Paul Simon and Sabrina Carpenter perform “Homeward Bound”
To begin the night, Paul Simon and Sabrina Carpenter teamed up to perform a duet of Simon and Garfunkel’s “Homeward Bound”. The song debuted on the 1966 album “Parsley, Sage, Rosemary, and Thyme”, and Simon performed it on SNL 10 years later, along with Beatles great George Harrison. Carpenter joked that neither she nor her parents were born back then.

Simon, who is now 83 years old, came to prominence with Art Garfunkel in the 1960s, and in his time has hosted SNL four times and performed as a musician 13 times.
Although she’s a much newer artist on the scene, 25-year-old Carpenter has performed on SNL herself. She made her debut on the Season 49 finale in May 2024, performing her hit song “Espresso”, as well as “Feather” and “Nonsense”.
As the duo completed their performance, they gave the iconic opening line to the show: “Live from New York, it’s Saturday night!”
